The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists that State Routes 261 and 273, which lead to lakes in the White Mountains region, will be closing for the winter beginning Friday, Dec. 6
ADOT closes the two state roads annually as part of the agency’s winter shutdown schedule due to significant amounts of snowfall the White Mountains typically receives. The highways will reopen in the spring.
