My office remains in constant contact with local and state officials as they lead the disaster recovery efforts, and we remain ready to assist in any way we can.
President Trump swiftly approved Governor Beshear's request for an emergency disaster declaration, providing federal resources for state and local emergency response. The emergency declaration authorized the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate disaster relief efforts during the early hours of the disaster.
On February 24, President Trump granted a Major Disaster Declaration triggering the release of federal funds for Individual Assistance in the following counties: Breathitt, Clay, Estill, Floyd, Harlan, Johnson, Knott, Lee, Letcher, Martin, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Simpson Counties. To apply for Individual Assistance, you can visit https://www.fema.gov/disaster/4860.
If you are in need of assistance with your FEMA claim, you can reach my state office at (270) 782-8303, and one of my staff members will be happy to help.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced the availability of low interest federal disaster loans for Kentucky businesses, nonprofits, and residents affected by the severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides occurring Feb. 14. Under this declaration, the primary counties of Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Knott, Lee, Letcher, Martin, Owsley, Perry and Pike are eligible for both Physical damage loans and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) from the SBA. You can learn more about the SBA loans at https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/disaster-assistance/kentucky-floods.
Disaster Recovery Centers: FEMA representatives can explain available assistance programs, how to apply to FEMA, and help connect survivors with resources for their recovery needs.
