Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd has released the following updated information regarding a death investigation in the Whispering Pines subdivision north of Payson, Arizona.
On October 27, 2022, at approximately 10:53 a.m. the Gila County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 911 call in reference to two subjects found deceased inside a residence in the Whispering Pines subdivision, north of Payson, Arizona.
Deputies along with Water Wheel Fire Department and Medical responded to the scene. Upon arrival a deceased male and female were discovered inside the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Gila County Sheriff’s Office Detectives responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
The deceased have been identified as Chase Stanfield, age 38, and Gail Stanfield, age 50, both of Payson, Arizona.
Detectives have continued following up on multiple investigative leads and collected and sent evidence for forensic analysis. The investigation remains active.
