On October 5, 2014, at approximately 1:16 p.m. the Gila County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a nine year old boy that had disappeared while swimming with his family near the Vineyard Day Park at Roosevelt Lake.
He was found unresponsive in about 5 feet of water. His family performed CPR until the Tonto Basin Fire District arrived. The Sheriff’s Office transported the child to a nearby ambulance via a patrol boat and the child was flown to Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix where he was pronounced dead.
This incident is still an ongoing investigation. More information may be released as it becomes available.
