As of 12 UTC this morning, low pressure is located over New Brunswick, Canada at 973 mb and will continue to strengthen as it moves north into the western Gulf of Saint Lawrence.

● Widespread gale-force winds are ongoing across much of the Mid-Atlantic and New England waters this morning with some storm-force winds to 50 kt starting to show up southeast of Georges Bank.
● The storm-force winds will continue to expand in the outer Mid-Atlantic waters the rest of today, then pull east of the waters after 03 UTC 03/08.
Peak winds near and just north of the Gulf Stream will be around 50-55 kt with gusts to 65 kt possible.
● Some low-topped, strong thunderstorms are possible in the cold air coincident with the stronger winds and just to the south over the Gulf Stream through early afternoon with gusts approaching 60 kt.

MILLS, Wyo. – The Bureau of Reclamation has prepared the February snow melt runoff forecasts and operating plans for the North Platte River Basin, indicating a below-average spring snow melt runoff.

The February forecasts project total runoff from April through July in the North Platte River Basin above Glendo Dam to be 700,000 acre-feet (af), which is 75% of the 30-year average. The North Platte Reservoir System's total conservation storage capacity is approximately 2,815,800 af. As of January 31, 2025, the combined storage content in the North Platte Reservoirs was 1,516,896 af, which is 92% of the 30-year average.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan detour routes while several major freeway closures for improvement projects are in place this weekend (April 28-May 1), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The following weekend freeway restrictions are scheduled:

Westbound I-10 closed between Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) and US 60 (Superstition Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday (May 1) for the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard closed. All Loop 202 EB and EB ramps to westbound I-10 closed. Allow extra travel time and expect heavy traffic. Primary Detour: Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) in Chandler to northbound Loop 101 to reach either westbound US 60 or westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) as alternate routes to bypass the closure. Driver behavior, including speeding and impairment, are leading factors as 1,180 people were killed in vehicle crashes in Arizona

PHOENIX – As more people began getting back to traveling in 2021, the number of traffic fatalities rose for a second straight year to their highest levels in 15 years, according to the most recent Arizona Motor Vehicle Crash Facts report published Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The number of those killed in traffic collisions rose from 1,054 in 2020 to 1,180 in 2021, an increase of 12%. The total number of traffic crashes also rose by 22% as people drove an estimated 8.1 billion more miles last year than in 2020.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to allow extra travel time for overnight lane and ramp restrictions on eastbound Interstate 10 between 40th Street and Broadway Road from the evening of Monday, Aug. 29, to the morning of Thursday, Sept. 1.

Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to two lanes between 40th Street and Broadway Road nightly from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, to Thursday, Sept. 1, for bridge work. At the same time, the following ramps will be closed:
