The U.S. Department of Education (the Department) is referring its investigation into the New York Department of Education (NYDE) and the New York State Board of Regents (the Board) for their unlawful attempt to ban mascots and logos that celebrate Native American history to the U.S. Department of Justice for enforcement. This action comes as the NYDE and the Board rejected the Department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR)’s proposed Resolution Agreement that would bring both entities into compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act (1964) by rescinding its prohibition on Native American mascots and logos.

Washington, DC — The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) took a bold step in restoring public trust, links to an external website, opens in a new tab by totally reconstituting the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP), an advisory committee that makes recommendations on the safety, efficacy, and clinical need of vaccines to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Under the leadership of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., the agency removed the 17 sitting members of the ACIP committee and will replace them with new members currently under consideration.

s part of ongoing progress at Newark, FAA confirms limited flights through 2025

To continue easing delays to the traveling public, the Federal Aviation Administration today confirmed the limited rate of arrivals and departures at Newark Liberty International Airport through December 31, 2025, following productive discussions with airlines and the conclusion of a public comment period.

The confirmed reduced rates will maintain safety while alleviating excessive flight delays at the airport due to staffing and equipment challenges. The early completion of runway construction at the airport that added to the delays will also contribute to a more efficient operation.
