HOUSTON – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 3-time previously deported criminal alien Feb. 5 wanted in Harris County, Texas, for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
David Gonzalez-Martinez, a 52-year-old criminal alien from Mexico, was arrested during routine daily operations in Houston and booked into the Harris County Jail. Following his arrest, ICE lodged an immigration detainer with the jail requesting to be notified in the event Gonzalez is going to be released back into the community.

PHILADELPHIA – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement removed Francisco Javier Melendez Torres, a citizen of El Salvador with a final order of removal, to El Salvador on Jan. 31. Melendez is a foreign fugitive wanted by law enforcement authorities in El Salvador for aggravated rape of a minor and sexual harassment.

BOSTON — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with the assistance of the Needham Police Department, apprehended a foreign fugitive and criminal alien wanted in China for embezzlement, criminal conversion, fraud, and felony drug trafficking, during a targeted enforcement action, Jan. 23.
“ERO Boston’s successful apprehension of this fugitive highlights our ongoing commitment to enforcing immigration laws and protecting U.S. communities,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations acting Boston Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde. “We will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing any criminal alien who attempts to remain in our New England neighborhoods in an effort to evade criminal prosecution.”

The Justice Department has announced an agreement with Sugar Grove Township, Pennsylvania, and the Sugar Grove Area Sewage Authority (SUGASA), to resolve allegations that they violated the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA) by enacting and enforcing two ordinances against Old Order Amish residents: one mandating that certain households connect to the Township’s municipal sewage system, which requires the use of an electric grinder pump, and one banning privies on property intended for permanent residence. The lawsuit alleges that these acts substantially burdened Old Order Amish residents’ religious exercise, which restricts the use of electricity and requires adherents remain separate and apart from the modern world, and that the Township and SUGASA lacked a compelling reason for doing so.

GUADILLA, Puerto Rico – U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations (AMO) and the US Coast Guard interdicted a vessel attempting to smuggle 156 pounds (128 kilograms) of cocaine through the norther coast of the island on Wednesday. The estimated value of the seized narcotics is $2.6 million.
During a routine patrol on the evening of Jan. 22, a Coast Guard HC-144 aircraft located a a twin-engine vessel, with visible occupants and packages of suspected contraband, at about 50 miles north of Aguadilla. A CBP Maritime Enforcement Aircraft took over in surveilling the suspect vessel as it navigated towards Puerto Rico.
