Dr. Rand Paul Introduces the Reading Room

I launched The Reading Room, a new public-facing repository of records related to his ongoing investigation into the origins of COVID-19 and federally funded gain-of-function research. The Reading Room is live now at www.paul.senate.gov/readingroom and will be updated on a rolling basis as new material is released. The site also includes releases from the Chairman earlier this year, including documents showing the intelligence community was in contact with Dr. Baric years before the pandemic and records tracing Dr. Fauci’s connections to the national security and intelligence apparatus back to 2003. Chairman Paul intends to continue releasing documents from his investigation on a rolling basis as his work continues. New Documents Released in Dr. Rand Paul's COVID Coverup Investigation Newly released documents showing that CBP built a formal targeting action to question the President of EcoHealth Alliance, Peter Daszak, on his return from the WHO’s COVID-19 origins mission — before the FBI stepped in and asked agents to stand down. Additionally, newly released internal Slack messages exchanged among the authors of "The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2" — Kristian Andersen, Robert Garry, Eddie Holmes, and Andrew Rambaut— show that behind closed doors, the paper's own authors were far less certain than their public conclusions suggested. The Proximal Origin paper, published in Nature Medicine in March 2020, was widely cited by public health officials and the media as the scientific authority for ruling out a laboratory origin of SARS-CoV-2. In the messages, Andersen assigned a 30% probability to a lab origin. Holmes gave an estimate of 20%, later revising it down to 10%. Both numbers stand in direct contrast to the paper's public assertion that there was no way the virus had been manipulated. Separately, the messages show the authors coordinating directly with the U.S. intelligence community and NIH leadership during the same period they were publicly defending their conclusions.
