Florence, AZ -The Pinal County Attorney’s Office has completed its review of allegations and materials submitted regarding former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb and has determined that the evidence reviewed does not establish a violation of Arizona criminal law. As detailed in the accompanying Preliminary Inquiry, the Office conducted a comprehensive search for records of any prior investigation reportedly conducted under former Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer. No records of such an investigation were located. To ensure an independent review, the Office obtained and reviewed records provided to the Pinal County Board of Supervisors and invited anyone with additional information to come forward. One person ultimately provided a substantial amount of information for review. After examining the records, witness statements, text messages, social media posts, recorded calls, and other communications, the Office concludes that no abuse of power or other crime occurred. This matter is now closed. “Public officials are entitled to the same due process and the same scrutiny as every other citizen. Not more. Not less,” said Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller. “When allegations are presented to this office, our responsibility is to determine whether a crime occurred, not whether a narrative is politically convenient. This office does not prosecute rumors, politics, social media campaigns, or headlines. We prosecute crimes. We follow the facts, we follow the law, and we follow the evidence. In this case, the evidence does not establish that any law was broken.” The preliminary inquiry detailing the review, evidence considered, and findings is available for public inspection.
