On November 29, 2019 at approximately 4:11 p.m., the Gila County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a vehicle stuck in Tonto Creek near the Bar X Crossing. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopters rescued (1) one adult and (4) four children who were stranded on an island. Another adult was rescued from the shore.

On November 30, 2019 at approximately 8:45 a.m. one child was recovered and the next of kin has been notified.

On November 30, 2019 at approximately 11:14 a.m. another child was recovered and the next of kin has been notified.

The search operation continues for a reported (1) one additional missing children. Multiple agencies are assisting to include: Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Tonto Basin, TriCity and Globe Fire Departments.
