Seventy-five years ago, on August 2, the Nazis sent 2,879 Romani men, women, and children at Auschwitz-Birkenau to the gas chambers. Entire families were lost in that single night.

On this day, we mourn and remember the hundreds of thousands of Romani men, women and children who were savagely murdered by the Nazis during World War II.

We also reaffirm our commitment to work for the dignity and equality of all Roma people who continue to face discrimination, segregation, and marginalization. We call on all governments to take steps to combat intolerance against the Roma and to enable their full participation in civic and economic life.   back...
