The main gate at the Freeport McMoRan copper mine off US 60 in the town of Miami will be closed next week to allow for construction of a new sewer main in the area.
From Monday (Jan. 25) through Thursday (Jan. 28) the entrance will be closed daily between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., with the eastbound US 60 left turn lane at New Street closed Wednesday (Jan. 27) and Thursday (Jan. 28).
Signs will direct mine traffic onto Freeport McMoRan property using a contractor gate, while through traffic uses a separate lane.
Motorists should obey reduced speed limits and traffic control. back...
