A weekend closure of Grand Avenue (US 60) near Loop 303 in Surprise will start late Friday night (Sept. 11) for bridge work, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Grand Avenue will be closed in both directions between R.H. Johnson Boulevard and Loop 303 from 9 p.m. Friday (Sept. 11) to 8 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 13) while crews pour concrete for a section of the new Loop 303 bridge being constructed over US 60.

Traffic will primarily detour along Loop 303 and Bell Road while the Grand Avenue closure is in place. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and use caution during the closure.

The new Loop 303 bridge is being constructed as part of a $46 million project to improve the interchange and ramps connecting Grand Avenue and Loop 303. The entire project is scheduled for completion by summer 2016.
