Phoenix, Arizona - Lyman Lake State Park in northeastern Arizona is a stunning 1,500-acre lake at an elevation of 6,000 feet with no size restrictions on boats, making it a popular water-skiing destination. The park will re-open on May 3, 2012 for the summer and fall season.
The park will be open for day-use only from May 3 through May 23. Starting on May 24 the park will be open for day-use and camping until November 4. However, you can make your camping reservations now for that time frame. The park will then wind down its season from November 5 through December 3 with day-use only.
Summer days at Lyman Lake State Park are perfect for fishing, water-skiing, camping and hiking. The park features 61 camping sites with shade ramadas, picnic tables and grills. Campsites range from $20 to $30 a night. There are also four air-conditioned camping cabins ($55) and four (16-feet round) yurts ($40). The four one-room log camping cabins overlook the lake with covered wood porches and comfortable features. They are accessible by car and RV and equipped with electric hook-ups outside. Although relatively new to Arizona, yurts have been home for millions of people in Central Asia for several millenniums. On clear nights, yurt campers can lie in their sleeping bags to view the abundant display of stars visible through the open roof or during wet seasonal storms the yurt offers room for the whole family to sit in dry comfort.
