Phoenix, Sept. 24, 2015. Pump prices continue to plunge, delivering sub-$2 fuel prices to five states this week. This week, the statewide average shed more than a nickel to $2.375. Nationwide, prices fell more than a penny to $2.289.

“While Arizona’s average remains 37.5 cents north of $2, several metro regions are inching closer to the $2 benchmark,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “So long as current market factors persist, Arizona drivers could see sub-$2 prices in the near future.”

Tucson and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $2.206 and $2.694 per gallon, respectively. South Carolina and California hold the lowest and highest average price for the lower 48 states at $1.934 and $3.019 per gallon, respectively.
