Pump price relief should continue

Phoenix - Pump prices continued to trek downward this week. The price of a gallon of gas in Arizona fell just under 2 cents to $3.534, while the national average shed a little more than 3 cents to $3.517.

“So long as refinery production remains strong and oil costs do not rise due to unexpected issues, motorists should experience continued relief at the pump in the short term,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs. “At this time, the biggest threat to continued falling prices would be a major hurricane striking the Gulf Coast.”

Tucson and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.369 and $3.777 per gallon, respectively. South Carolina and California hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.245 and $3.978 per gallon, respectively.
